Job summary

The Des Plaines Public Library is seeking a service-oriented individual who loves reading fiction and talking about books, music, films and games. You will help a diverse patron base, from teens to seniors, learn to download materials and stream media on their devices.

Schedule includes Tue 9-6, Fri 12-9, and every other Saturday 8:30-5. A Bachelor’s degree (or two years college with library experience), a valid driver’s license, and availability evenings/weekends are required.

• Available to work evenings and weekends.

If you love to read fiction, love to talk about books, and love helping people, this job is for you! Are you fluent in our popular collections: fiction, film, games, and music? Are you familiar with popular technology, such as downloading materials on devices, streaming movies and music, and able to teach this to our patrons? Can you connect with a diverse population of patrons aged teens through seniors?

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and one year customer service experience OR two years college and three years library or bookstore experience
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Available to work evenings and weekends

Salary range is $19.20 to $23.25 per hour (depending on qualifications) with vacation time and IMRF retirement benefits.
