Job summary

My Life Legacy is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated, person-centred support to a young person in an alternative education setting. You will help Ethan build skills, confidence and independence through meaningful activities such as horticulture, cooking and daily living tasks.

You will document progress, plan engaging activities, support personal care when required and work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure consistent, high-quality support throughout the day.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant.
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Experience supporting someone with complex additional needs.
• Experience using Alternative and Augmentative Communication i.e. PECS.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• A patient, calm and person-centred approach.

Responsibilities

• Providing one to one, person-centred learning support.
• Supporting to work towards educational outcomes and targets.
• Planning and supporting meaningful learning activities.
• Recording progress against educational targets on a digital recording system.
• Recording care provided and relevant daily information.
• Supporting with meals and personal care when required.
• Encouraging independence and supporting Ethan to make choices wherever possible.
• Using different forms of communication to support understanding and engagement.
• Supporting the development of practical life skills through activities such as cooking, animal care and horticulture.
• Working closely with colleagues and other professionals to ensure Ethan receives consistent and appropriate support.

We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join our team and provide dedicated, person-centred support to a young person within an alternative education setting. Meet "Ethan", a young person who is working towards developing his skills, confidence and independence through meaningful learning experiences.

What will you be doing?

As *Ethan's Learning Support Assistant, you will play an important role in helping him work towards his individual educational outcomes and targets.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing one to one, person-centred learning support.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who has:

GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).

Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant.

Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.

Experience supporting someone with complex additional needs.

Experience working towards individual outcomes or targets and accurately recording progress.

Experience using Alternative and Augmentative Communication i.e. PECS.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

A patient, calm and person-centred approach.

A genuine passion for helping young people develop their skills and independence.

You don't need to have experience in every activity *Ethan enjoys. What matters most is that you are enthusiastic, patient and willing to get involved.
