Job summary

Action for Children is seeking a Residential Support Worker to create a warm, safe home where a young person can thrive. You will build positive relationships, promote independence, and support personal goals within a structured team.

The role offers comprehensive induction, ongoing training, and opportunities to gain recognised qualifications as part of a dedicated team. A supportive environment values wellbeing and safeguarding across the service.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust.
• Good communications skills and the ability to engage well with young people, colleagues and professionals.
• Demonstrate a solution focused approach and commitment to completing required qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide lead case/care planning management, including assessing, reviewing and managing risk.
• Coordinate responsibilities within the service with multi-agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports.
• Attend professional meetings including reviews, court work, etc.
• Help young people in all aspects of their daily lives, supporting wellbeing and independence.
• Have good communication skills and the ability to engage with young people, colleagues and other professionals.

Job description

Contract/Hours: Permanent, Full Time 37 hours, Day shifts- 7:15am- 2:45pm, 2:15pm- 9:45pm. Night shifts- 9:30pm- 7:30am

As aResidential Support Worker, you will help create a warm, safe and supportive home where the young person can thrive. You’ll build positive relationships while supporting them to develop independence, enjoy new experiences and achieve their personal goals.

The role includes:

Supporting daily routines and promoting independence.

Planning and taking part in fun, meaningful activities and community outings.

Encouraging confidence, resilience and life skills.

Providing compassionate support that meets the young person’s individual needs, including responding to behaviours of concern and, where required, supporting with health and personal care.

Monitoring wellbeing and safeguarding the young person in a nurturing environment.

No two days are the same. While the role can be busy and rewarding, you’ll never be doing it alone. You’ll receive a comprehensive induction, ongoing training, regular supervision and opportunities to gain recognised qualifications as part of a supportive and dedicated team.

About the service

Stoneside Family Support is expanding, and we are excited to open Stoneside Flat 2, a new specialist residential service supportingone young personin their own living space.

Our aim is to provide a safe, stable and nurturing home where the young person can develop confidence, independence and life skills while achieving their full potential. We are committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care that promotes positive experiences, wellbeing and meaningful opportunities within the local community.

How you'll help to create brighter futures

Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge? We are looking for someone with a ‘can do’ attitude to join our team. Ideally you will have:

Demonstrable experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust

Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with service users and their families

Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting

Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role

Possess a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent) or if you do not possess this you must be prepared to complete this within 2 years of commencing employment with us, full support will be provided.
