Job summary

ISP School Battle is seeking a dedicated One-to-One Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEN at our Battle site. The role is 22.5 hours per week across 3 days, term-time only, with one day per week accompanying a pupil to Plumpton College.

You will assist the class teacher, monitor progress, report concerns, and help with lesson planning and preparation, building positive relationships to promote learning and engagement. A DBS check will be completed by the school.

Qualifications

• Strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with GCSE C in English and Maths.
• Experience as a Teaching Assistant.
• Experience with SEMH in an educational setting.
• Ability to lead on a specialism (e.g., reading, mathematics, or forest school).
• Experience with behaviour management and willing to develop professionally.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil or a small group (up to five).
• Support the classroom teacher during lessons.
• Report on pupils' progress and concerns, and liaise with other school staff to ensure pupils' needs are met.
• Supervision of pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips.
• Assisting with lesson planning and classroom preparation; setting work where appropriate and marking.
• Building positive relationships with pupils and driving interaction and positive learning outcomes.

About Us

ISP School is a special educational needs school that has been established in Kent for over 20 years. Renowned for working with vulnerable children aged 7 to 16 with a wide range of complex needs, our mission is to provide each pupil with a diverse and appropriate education in a safe, supportive environment that promotes self-discipline and engagement, inspires learning and encourages aspiration and achievement.

We have expanded our special educational needs provision by opening a new school with capacity for 60 pupils in Battle, East Sussex. The school is located within a country estate, with visually stunning surroundings.

Role Responsibilities

Requirements

• * Have a strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills
• * Previous experience in a similar role, for example as a Teaching Assistant
• * Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an educational setting
• * Be experienced and confident enough to be able to lead on a specialism, for example reading, mathematics or forest school
• * Experience of behaviour management and techniques
• * Committed to professional development and willing to learn

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check, the cost of which will be met by ISP School Battle.
