Job summary

ISP School Battle is seeking a One-to-One Teaching Assistant to mentor a pupil or small group, support lessons, and monitor progress. The role is fixed-term and term-time only, based in Battle, East Sussex, with duties including supervision, planning support, and reporting on pupil development.

The successful candidate will have GCSEs in English and Maths, a strong basic education, prior TA experience, and a willingness to lead a subject area such as reading or math while supporting SEMH needs.

Qualifications

• GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics
• Previous experience in a Teaching Assistant or similar role
• Experience with SEMH within an educational setting
• Ability to lead on a specialism (e.g., reading, mathematics or forest school)
• Experience of behaviour management and techniques
• Committed to professional development and learning

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of up to five pupils
• Support the classroom teacher during lessons
• Report on pupils’ progress and concerns; liaise with staff to meet pupils’ needs
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extracurricular activities and trips
• Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation; set work and mark
• Build positive relationships with pupils to drive engagement and learning outcomes
