Job summary

Radiant, an El Segundo, CA-based startup, seeks a Reactor Systems Engineer to integrate reactor design across nuclear physics, thermal-hydraulics, controls, and licensing, ensuring safety and timely delivery.

This hands-on role involves analyzing thermal models, component specs, and subsystem designs while developing collaboration and clear technical documentation for regulators and customers, under senior guidance.

Qualifications

• Strong ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documents.
• Experience in cross-functional technical efforts.
• Exposure to regulated/high-consequence industries preferred.
• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Support translation between reactor physics, thermal-hydraulics, materials, controls, mechanical design, manufacturing, and regulatory teams.
• Maintain libraries of P&IDs, sensors, and subsystem specifications.
• Identify cross-cutting risks and drive resolution.
• Collaborate with safety analysis and licensing teams on design decisions and regulatory submissions.
• Develop design basis, safety classification, and technical specifications.
• Support testing efforts, test plans, data collection, and feed results back into design.
• Maintain technical baseline with lightweight startup processes.
• Communicate clearly with engineers and leadership; contribute to regulator/customer documents.
