Job summary

Radiant in El Segundo, CA seeks a Reactor Operations Engineer to join a small, mission-driven team building portable nuclear microreactors. You will help develop and refine procedures that connect software and hardware-in-the-loop testing, ensuring safe and compliant operation for test, commissioning, and deployment activities.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Aerospace Engineering.
• Graduating in December 2026 or Spring 2027.
• Proficiency in managing or optimizing complex hardware and software processes for testing and operations.
• Ability to apply first principles thinking to solve problems in uncertain situations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine operational procedures that integrate software and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Bridge engineering, operations, and human factors to translate designs into executable, DOE/NRC compliant procedures.
• Collaborate with engineers to improve operator interfaces, workflows, and tools.
• Support testing and iterative improvements of digital twin scenarios and operator systems.
