Job summary

Rural Metro Fire Department is seeking a Helicopter Air Ambulance (HAA) Pilot for a full-time role in Steamboat, Colorado. The position involves transporting patients by air in coordination with REACH, ensuring mission readiness, and maintaining regulatory compliance.

The package includes a salary of $106,511–$117,162 with a 20% geo modifier, plus a $15,000 sign-on bonus, retention bonuses, a $5,000 lead pilot stipend, on-duty housing for select locations, and a 7-on/7-off schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a Rotorcraft FAA Commercial Certificate.
• Helicopter instrument rating.
• Current FAA Class I or II Medical Certificate.
• 2,000 total flight hours on helicopters.
• 2,000 helicopter hours.
• 1,000 helicopter PIC hours.
• 1,000 turbine helicopter hours.
• 200 helicopter night hours (aided or unaided).
• 230-pound weight limit with flight gear.

Responsibilities

• Working with a team of medical experts to safely transport customers to and from locations and facilities.
• Ensure aircraft readiness for flight dispatch as described in the manuals, including FAR and REACH requirements, and aircraft cleanliness duties.
• Maintain accurate REACH and regulatory documentation and record keeping.
• Effectively communicate and collaborate with dispatch, flight crews, facilities, and partners.
• Provide shift change info to successive pilot and team following protocol for recording a REACH change board details.
• Accountable to maintain required certifications and ongoing training.
