Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Diagnostic Ultrasound Technician to operate M-mode echocardiography, 2-D sector scanning, color flow, and transesophageal echocardiography, with responsibilities extending to clinical and clerical support. The role requires RDMS certification, 2+ years of cardiac ultrasound experience, and the ability to interact effectively with patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Completion of a two-year Associate’s Degree in Cardiovascular Technology or related field is required for extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology of cardiovascular systems and disease process of both Pediatric and Adult Pathology.
• Must be a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer through the American Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
• At least two years experience in cardiac ultrasound techniques is required.
• A level of interpersonal skills to interact with critically ill patients, physicians, and hospital personnel is required.
• Ability to transcribe medical documents and knowledge of patient care techniques.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient charts and informs test procedures; explains procedures and relaxes patients to obtain quality results.
• Performs testing including IV antibiotics administration and vital signs; tests in department and bedside.
• Operates ultrasound equipment to evaluate cardiac function and measure structures for quantitative analysis.
• Prepares preliminary test information for physician interpretation and ensures data accuracy.
• Responds to STAT procedure requests and provides accurate preliminary reports to physicians.
