Overview
Position: Raw Processing CL, Operator 1 – 2nd Shift
Location: Kent, WA | Type: Onsite
Schedule: 2nd Shift, 8 hours per day with possible daily overtime during peak production
Wage: $23.00 - $24.00 per hour, with a starting rate of $23.00 per hour for 2nd shift, plus a $1.00 per hour shift differential
Responsibilities
- Operate machines to meet quality standards and schedule attainment; ensure mechanical operations run smoothly on lines including Multivac, Circle 40, Shrink Tunnel, Velocity, Ultracan, Shaking, Delinking, Raw Processing Continuous Line, Jerky Mixing, Batching and Spice Blend.
- Set up workstations correctly to ensure efficient packaging and workflow.
- Lead by directing employees to assist on other lines or rework when machines are down; maintain on-time start-ups.
- Perform product quality checks and QA checks to reduce waste or rework (e.g., hourly weight/count checks, oxygen level tests, metal detection, blade inspection).
- Adjust machine registrations, sealing temperature, speed, gas levels, and slicing width to maximize quality and efficiency.
- Maintain records accurately and complete required paperwork; load and thread film on packaging lines.
- Perform metal detection and ensure proper identification of product through weights and batch records.
- Prepare work areas, ensure correct spices and batch numbers are recorded; stage spices and remove foreign material.
- Execute basic maintenance as directed and uphold sanitation standards; monitor and address machine malfunctions and jams with lead or supervisor input.
- Coordinate machine changeovers (including sanitizing for species or allergen changes) and run labels per product specs.
- Monitor production flow, assign tasks, and maintain communication with personnel to meet hourly output and schedules.
- Train new personnel, monitor performance, and ensure procedures are followed; ensure all personnel are properly trained and time worked is recorded.
- Ensure product integrity, conduct quality checks, and perform raw material audits and weight checks as required.
- Maintain housekeeping and safety standards; follow food safety programs and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- High School diploma (minimum).
- 6 months manufacturing experience preferred.
- Pallet Jack experience preferred.
- Lock-Out Tag-Out Certified (on-the-job training acceptable).
- Familiarity with HACCP (on-the-job) and SQF preferred; understanding of GMPs and personal safety rules (on-the-job).
- Ability to work with others, use discretion, meet deadlines, read specifications and BOMs, and perform basic math.
- Ability to troubleshoot, demonstrate mechanical aptitude, and communicate in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a processing environment with hazardous materials and temperature variations.
