Job summary

Amazon in Reading, MA seeks an experienced Machine Shop Manager to own the rapid prototyping shop at the Boston Development Center. You will lead precision fabrication and additive manufacturing, driving end-to-end execution of machined and 3D-printed components for hardware development.

You will hire and develop a team of CNC programmers, machinists, and additive technicians, set the schedule, and partner with engineers to ensure first-piece quality and tight turnaround in a high-mix,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
7+ years CNC machining experience with at least 3 years leading a machine shop team.
Hands-on CNC programmer or machinist with credibility on the CAM seat.

Responsibilities

Own day-to-day machine shop operations end-to-end, including scheduling and throughput.
Hire, develop, and manage a team of machinists, programmers and additive techs.
Manage job queues across concurrent programs to maximize throughput and minimize lead time.
Review part designs for manufacturability (DFM) and select machining strategies.
Oversee CAM programming, setup verification, first-piece inspection, and changeovers.
Lead 3D printing/additive manufacturing operations and post-processing.
Drive on-time delivery, first-piece quality, throughput and machine utilization.
Maintain safety, 5S and EHS standards; manage equipment maintenance and uptime.
