Job summary

Amentum is seeking a candidate to lead O&M operations supporting Space Force mission infrastructure. You will supervise technicians, manage procedures, and ensure readiness of facilities and equipment for critical operations.

The role requires a US Secret clearance, a relevant degree or equivalent experience, and strong leadership and analytical skills to coordinate cross-functional teams and maintain high performance in a government setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, business management discipline, or four years of direct experience.
  • Five or more (5+) years of experience with operation and maintenance of instrumentation, facilities, and infrastructure with at least five years at a supervisory level.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with multiple customer organizations, local government, management, and employees.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to prioritize work despite changing schedules and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of local and remote environment range missions and relevant manuals and drawings.
  • Proficient at troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining system equipment.
  • Must be comfortable with managing a multi-cultural workforce and lean, high-performance government facilities.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance.

  • Schedule operations to meet contract and mission requirements; handle emergencies.
  • Monitor performance, provide feedback, and address deviations.
  • Prepare and maintain infrastructure to meet mission requirements and standards.
  • Ensure proper procurement, stocking, and control of materials and supplies.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources on policy adherence and disciplinary actions.
  • Contribute to process improvements and apply security standards.

Typical Duties

Provide leadership, management, technical and professional direction to the workforce through supervisors and technicians responsible for O&M functions in the areas of Data Handling and Range Safety Ensure operations and maintenance personnel are selected, trained, and qualified to meet contract requirements, government standards and in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement Ensure procedures are developed and maintained to clearly describe current, approved procedures, performance standards, reporting, documentation requirements, and manage deviations from procedures using root cause analysis process Ensure operations and maintenance personnel are scheduled to meet contract and mission requirements and personnel are recalled when needed to meet emergency requirements Ensure the performance of all operations and maintenance personnel are effectively and proactively monitored to detect deviations and deficiencies and provide constructive feedback where required Ensure the infrastructure and facilities are properly prepared, checked, and ready to meet mission requirements Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance is performed in a timely and effective manner consistent with established standards and requirements Ensure infrastructure degradation, failures, and maintenance outages are documented and reported in a timely way consistent with Amentum contract standards and requirements Ensure all operations are conducted in accordance with Amentum contract personnel, facility, and system security standards and policies Ensures material, supplies, and property are ordered, stocked, and controlled to meet mission requirements consistent with Amentum contract standards Ensure Human Resource's policies are known, understood, carried out and disciplinary action is performed in a consistent manner in concert with Human Resources Ensure compliance with Amentum quality program requirements and standards and participate in Amentum and government process improvement initiatives Provide technical advice to Amentum management, staff, and government personnel on issues, anticipated operability, maintainability, or logistical problems, potential new technologies, and participate in the planning and integration of new or modified facilities and systems Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, business management discipline, or four years of direct experience Five or more (5+) years of experience with operation and maintenance of instrumentation, facilities, and infrastructure with at least five years at a supervisory level Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with multiple customer organizations, local government, Amentum management, and employees on operational, technical, and personnel issues Strong analytical skills and the ability to prioritize work despite changing schedules and meet deadlines Knowledge of local and remote environment range missions Knowledge of equipment manuals, technical orders, product specification sheets, blueprints, drawings, and engineering concepts Knowledge of the type of operations, calibrations, and maintenance of the instruments supporting Vandenberg Space Force Base mission Proficient at electronic, mechanical, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining system equipment Must be comfortable with managing a multi-cultural workforce Must be comfortable with operating a lean, high-performance organization within government provided facilities Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual starting salary for this position is between $110,000-$130,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Compensation Details: $130,000 The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
