Job summary

Grace Adventures is seeking staff for its seasonally operated summer camp program. The role involves caring for campers physically, emotionally, and spiritually while maintaining a safe, supportive environment.

You will supervise and mentor campers, lead Bible studies, and participate in the Ranch Hands program, including housing, meals, and barn duties. Teaching riding and coordinating activities with CHA standards will be essential.

  • Supervise campers and manage behavior.
  • Oversee housing, meals, herd feeding, and barn duties (Ranch Hands).
  • Lead Bible studies and weekly one-on-one conversations with campers.
  • Teach horse riding classes and trail rides (Paradise Ranch CHA-based).
  • Assist in other Ranch-related program activities.
  • Attend camp activities, meals, staff meetings, and complete paperwork.

Job description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Fulfill the overall ministry of Grace Adventures and implement the mission of summer camps. To provide the physical, emotional, and spiritual care for campers assigned to you.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain a vital personal growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Create an environment that is physically, emotionally, spiritually, and socially safe for all campers under your care
  • Supervise campers effectively. Be responsible for the conduct of your campers and conduct behavior management based on training
  • Help lead and implement part of the High School leadership program (Ranch Hands) by overseeing housingkeeping, serving meals, herd feeding, care, and general barn duties.
  • Lead bible studies
  • Have an intentional one-on-one conversation with each camper under your care each week
  • Teach horse riding classes and trail rides under the Paradise Ranch (CHA-based) curriculum.
  • Assist in other Ranch-related program activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor(s)
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Complete the course of study during orientation and follow all camp policies
  • Become familiar with the camp staff, facilities, and grounds
  • Keep spiritually and physically prepared to minister
  • Care for the well-being of the campers ahead of your own personal desires
  • Attend all ranch camp activities, meals, and staff meetings.
  • Fill out all paperwork and turn it in before you are dismissed at the end of the week
  • Support Community Worship as assigned
  • Implement all riding instructor and group trail riding duties as needed

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Have a personal growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Knowledge of and love for God’s Word
  • Love for kids and adults and ability to communicate with them
  • Good health and stamina as required to implement a summer camp program. This will involve long hours, sleeping in bunkhouses with campers and lifting at times. Ability to work in various weather climates and conditions.
  • Experience in teaching kids
  • Willingness to participate in camp activities
  • Minimum age 18 years old
  • Education required: High School Degree or equivalent
  • Must be familiar with and adhere to CHA standards for group riding programs.
  • Must demonstrate ability to teach his or her assigned Paradise Ranch riding level(s).
  • Should be an experienced rider (equivalent to CHA level 3).
  • Must be able to handle both kids and horses in a safe, fun, and educational way.
