Grace Adventures in Michigan seeks energetic leaders to join our seasonal Ranch High School leadership camps. You will mentor Junior Wranglers, lead camp activities, and ensure a safe, faith-centered program for high school campers.

You’ll live on-site, help supervise staff, and participate in chapels and Bible studies while upholding CHA riding standards and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and active faith.
  • Knowledge of and love for God’s Word.
  • Ability to lead peers and work in a team.
  • Experience teaching kids in a camp or classroom setting.
  • Good health and stamina for long hours outdoors.
  • 18+ years old; 21+ preferred; valid driver’s license.
  • Familiarity with CHA riding standards and Safety policies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Ranch High School leadership camps and related programs.
  • Mentor and train campers serving as Junior Wranglers.
  • Oversee riding instruction and group trail riding duties.
  • Build relationships with staff, campers, and parents.
  • Plan activities, supervise nights, and enforce camp rules.
  • Attend staff meetings and complete all paperwork.

Job description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Fulfill the overall ministry of Grace Adventures and implement the mission of summer camps. To provide the physical, emotional, and spiritual care for campers assigned to you.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain and model a vital personal growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Support and equip Bunkhouse Leaders in working with High School campers serving as Junior Wranglers
  • Mentor and train High School campers serving as Junior Wranglers
  • Lead and support Ranch Hand Leaders in delivering a safe, fun, and educational leadership camp program experience for Ranch Hands
  • Build relationships with staff, campers, and camper parents
  • Plan and lead camp activities
  • Obey and enforce all camp rules and policies
  • Oversee and implement behavior management with High School campers and staff including nighttime rounds
  • Speak at campfires (chapel)
  • Lead High School Bible studies
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor(s)
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and implement Ranch High School leadership camps, service weeks and Community Worship programs with excellence
  • Complete the course of study during orientation and follow all camp policies
  • Become familiar with the camp staff, facilities and grounds
  • Keep spiritually and physically prepared to minister
  • Supervise, equip, encourage, and provide feedback and accountability to other ranch staff as part of the summer leadership team
  • Lead or attend all ranch camp activities, meals, and staff meetings.
  • Fill out all paperwork and turn it in before you are dismissed at the end of the week
  • Assist with housekeeping: cleaning showers, bunkhouses, bathrooms, and buildings to meet standards of excellence
  • Implement all riding instructor and group trail riding duties

POSITION TYPE: Seasonal

HOUSING: Provided throughout contract dates

MEALS: Provided throughout contract dates whenever campers or guests are being served

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have a personal growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Knowledge of and love for God’s Word
  • Love for kids and adults and ability to communicate with them
  • Ability to lead peers with a team-based mindset
  • Experience in teaching kids
  • Good health and stamina as required to implement a summer camp program. This will involve long hours, sleeping in bunkhouses with campers and lifting at times. Ability to work in various weather climates and conditions.
  • Minimum age 18 years old (21 or older preferred)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be familiar with and adhere to CHA standards for group riding programs.
  • Must demonstrate ability to teach his or her assigned Paradise Ranch riding level(s).
  • Should be an experienced rider (equivalent to CHA level 3).
  • Must be able to handle both kids and horses in a safe, fun, and educational way.
