Job summary

Menzies Aviation is seeking a Ramp Supervisor to oversee unloading/loading of luggage and cargo on commercial aircraft. You will supervise ramp agents, operate small vehicles, and mentor staff while ensuring safety and security standards are met.

The role requires lifting 70lbs, working varied shifts, and passing background checks. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, a clean driving record, and the ability to read, write, and speak English.

Qualifications

  • Prior Ramp/Airline experience required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Possess valid US driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and testing.
  • Ability to proficiently read, write and speak English.
  • Must be comfortable lifting 70lbs repetitively.
  • Must be comfortable working in all weather conditions.
  • Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Pass FBI background and obtain US Customs Seal.
  • Read and signed Station Quality Manual, Emergency Response Procedures Manual, and Station Security Manual.
  • High School diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise lead ramp agents; allocate ramp resources as needed.
  • Move cargo and baggage on and off aircraft and transport it between terminals and facilities.
  • Ensure ramp personnel adhere to safety regulations.
  • Mentor and train new employees.
  • May interview, hire, and train staff; appraise performance and handle discipline.
  • Complete shift reports and sign timecards.
  • Assist in preparing performance evaluation forms.
  • Prepare disciplinary incident or termination reports.
  • Assist in baggage handling area.
  • Conduct shift briefings to keep staff organized.
  • Read and interpret loading instructions, labels, and manifests.
  • Operate motorized equipment.

Role Purpose

The Ramp Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising the unloading and loading of luggage, freight and cargo on and off commercial aircraft. The Ramp Supervisor will also drive and operate small specialized commercial vehicles. This position will require heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and stretching.

What you will be doing
  • Supervise lead agents; allocating ramp agent resources as needed
  • Move cargo and baggage on and off aircraft and transport it between aircraft, airport terminals, air cargo facilities, and other aircraft
  • Ensure that ramp personnel adhere to established company safety regulations
  • Perform as a mentor to other employees and provide training to new employees
  • Some responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems as needed for violations of company policy
  • Complete shift reports and sign timecards
  • Assist in the preparation of performance evaluation forms
  • Prepare disciplinary incident and or termination reports
  • Assist in the baggage handling area
  • Conduct shift briefings to ensure staff is organized and informed
  • Read and interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous material identification labels, aircraft loading manifests, and baggage and cargo routing tags
  • Operate motorized equipment
