Job summary

Next City, a Raleigh-area leader in commercial construction management, is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead pursuits, craft compelling proposals, and build lasting client relationships across Healthcare, Higher Education, K-12, Senior Living, Commercial, and government projects.

You will coordinate with Marketing, Operations and Superintendent teams, research market sectors, attend industry events, and travel throughout the territory including Raleigh-Durham, Winston-Salem,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in commercial construction or related fields.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients and industry partners.
• Experience with proposals, presentations and client-facing business development.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate project pursuits, including RFQs, RFPs and interview presentations.
• Work closely with Marketing, Operations and Superintendent teams to develop compelling proposals and presentations.
• Develop professional interest letters and proposal content tailored to prospective clients.
• Research market sectors, industry trends, upcoming projects and key clients.
• Identify and develop new client relationships and future project opportunities.
• Maintain and strengthen existing client relationships alongside Operations leadership.
• Monitor client satisfaction and upcoming construction plans.
• Manage multiple project pursuits simultaneously and track progress through CRM/Salesforce.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the company's preconstruction services, including Design-Assist, Target Value Delivery and Prefabrication.
• Attend industry conferences, association events and client meetings to develop relationships and identify opportunities.
• Support community and client engagement initiatives.
• Track historical pursuit results and use market intelligence to help shape future business development strategies.
