Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking a Contractor in Charge (CIC) in London, KY to oversee construction, maintenance, and safety compliance for freight railroads and transit systems.

This field role requires frequent travel and a strong safety focus throughout all activities. The CIC will supervise worksite safety, ensure FRA compliance, and coordinate with dispatchers and engineers while documenting all actions for regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

• Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills.
• Verbal and written communication proficiency.
• Valid driver's license and a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years' railroad experience preferred in MOW or TY&E.
• Must complete required federal, client, and company training.

Responsibilities

• Oversee worksite safety and provide flagging services as needed.
• Conduct job briefings and ensure FRA compliance (49 CFR 214).
• Monitor track conditions, oncoming trains, and work activities for safety.
• Coordinate with train dispatchers, engineers, and supervisors.
• Document all activities and submit reports to management and regulatory agencies.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
