Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking a Contractor in Charge (CIC) in Prestonsburg, KY. The CIC oversees construction, maintenance, and safety compliance for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and partners.

The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and 2+ years in rail. Travel up to 85% and a valid driver's license are essential. NRSS offers comprehensive benefits and field-operations experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Minimum 2 years' railroad industry experience, preferably maintenance of way or TY&E.
• Successfully completes all required federal, client, and company training.

Responsibilities

• A safety-focused railroad-approved contractor responsible for overseeing worksite safety and flagging as needed in place of railroad personnel.
• Conducts job briefings and ensures FRA (49 CFR 214) compliance during work within arm's length of track.
• Monitors track conditions, approaching trains, and activities to keep personnel clear of tracks and equipment.
• Communicates with dispatchers, engineers, and supervisors to coordinate train movements and permissions.
• Documents all activities, including briefings, incident reports, daily logs, and forms for management and regulators.
• Enforces Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
