Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking a Contractor in Charge (CIC) in Bowling Green, KY to oversee construction, maintenance, and safety compliance for freight railroads and transit systems.

The CIC will lead field safety efforts and coordinate with railroad personnel to ensure operations stay within regulatory limits. This role involves extensive travel (50% to 85%), a safety-first mindset, and responsibility for documenting daily activities, briefings, and regulatory

Qualifications

• Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills.
• Communicates effectively in both verbal and written formats.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company preferably in the maintenance of way or TY&E departments.

Responsibilities

• Safety-focused contractor overseeing worksite safety and flagging as needed.
• Conducts job briefings and ensures compliance with FRA regulations (49 CFR 214).
• Monitors track conditions, approaching trains, and work activities to keep personnel clear of tracks.
• Coordinates train movements with dispatchers, engineers, and supervisors via radio or other systems.
• Documents activities, including briefings and incident reports, for management and regulatory agencies.
• Enforces Railroad, State, and Federal Policies.
