Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. seeks a Contractor in Charge (CIC) in Pendleton, OR to oversee railroad work sites, maintain safety compliance, and coordinate with trains and crews.

The CIC will ensure proper safety procedures and railroad regulatory adherence on freight and transit projects. The role requires travel 50–85% of the time, strong communication and safety leadership, and the ability to perform long deployments across multiple sites while maintaining thorough documentation

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company preferably in maintenance of way or TY&E.
• High school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license are required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to travel long-term.

Responsibilities

• Oversee worksite safety and provide flagging services as needed.
• Ensure compliance with FRA regulations (49 CFR 214) during track work.
• Monitor track conditions and coordinate train movements with dispatchers.
• Document job briefings, logs, and incident reports for management and agencies.
• Enforce all Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
