Job summary

Benesch is seeking a dedicated Construction Inspector to join our Construction team, supporting railroad infrastructure safety improvement projects in Western Connecticut and southeastern New York. You will inspect, document, and help manage various infrastructure projects, primarily for railroad grade crossing safety improvements, with potential for road, water main, and sewer work.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil or Construction Engineering required
• Licensed PE in NY preferred
• 5–10 years NYSDOT experience preferred
• Field project experience required
• Railroad experience with MTA/MNRR/LIRR preferred
• Experience with ArcGIS, MicroStation, Geopak and/or AutoCAD desirable
• Excellent communication and intrapersonal skills
• Strong organization and ability to manage within budgets/schedules
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Good driving record and valid driver's license

Responsibilities

• Review project plans and ensure budget and schedule adequacy.
• Conduct construction observation and document field activities.
• Maintain field book per project procedures.
• Measure construction work and compute pay quantities.
• Prepare Inspector Daily Reports and related docs as required.
• Report progress, issues, and deficiencies to the project supervisor.
• Review plans, specs, and submittals for assigned work.
• Provide design or other professional assistance to PMs.
• Maintain company vehicles and equipment used on the project.
