Job summary

Benesch is seeking an On-Call Field Inspector for Transportation Construction Engineering to supervise construction inspections nationwide. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of field inspection experience on railroad infrastructure projects and a valid driver's license, with willingness to travel to project sites across the Midwest.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of practical field inspection experience on infrastructure projects.
• Concrete Structure/Bridge inspection experience is a strong plus.
• Willing to learn and adapt to field tasks in a proactive manner.
• Must be able to collaborate effectively within a team.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must be willing and able to travel to project sites across the Midwest US region.

Responsibilities

• Daily oversight of contractors' day-to-day work.
• Enforce contractor responsibilities and ensure contract specification compliance.
• Accurately measure and validate contractor quantities per contract terms.
• Generate comprehensive daily construction reports to monitor progress.
• Monitor quality assurance documentation for conformity with standards.
• Maintain daily Field Book entries with tasks, workforce, equipment usage and progress updates.
• Track progress of construction activities to produce detailed work reports for field orders.
• Participate in progress meetings and provide updates when necessary.
• Collaborate with Resident Project Managers to resolve technical challenges.
