Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is hiring a Contractor in Charge (CIC) in Huntington, WV. The CIC will oversee construction, maintenance, and safety compliance for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and rail industry partners.

The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to travel long-term (50–85%). A valid driver’s license and a high school diploma are required, with a preference for 2 years of railroad experience in maintenance of

Qualifications

Requires strong verbal and written communication.
Must be organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
Willingness to travel long-term, including multi-month deployments.
Must hold a valid driver’s license.
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Minimum 2 years in a railroad company, preferably in maintenance of way or TY&E, is preferred.
Will complete all required federal, client, and company training.

Responsibilities

Oversee worksite safety and provide flagging services as needed.
Ensure compliance with FRA regulations (49 CFR 214) during work near tracks.
Monitor track conditions, approach of trains, and work activities to keep personnel safe.
Coordinate train movements with dispatchers, engineers, and supervisors.
Document activities, including briefings, incident reports, logs, and forms for management and regulators.
Enforce railroad, state, and federal policies.
