HDR Engineering is seeking a Railroad CADD Technician to join our Freight Rail group in Missoula, MT. The successful candidate will support our local team of engineers, project managers, and industrial leaders, providing technical design and support for various engineering projects across the country. Our Montana team focuses on infrastructure improvements for railroad clients to enhance safety and efficiency in our communities. This role offers excellent growth opportunities for a self-directed individual eager to learn and take on new challenges.

The primary duties include preparing bridge rehabilitation or replacement drawings such as plan and elevation views, typical sections, grading plans, foundation plans and details, concrete reinforcing plans, steel fabrication plans, and related drawings.

Primary Responsibilities

As a Railroad CADD Technician, you will:

  • Create detailed drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, and graphic representations of engineering designs using CAD software.
  • Demonstrate experience in structural drafting for all phases of construction documents and create 2D and 3D structural drawings in BIM software from sketches and team collaboration.
  • Understand procedures for producing design development and construction documents, with knowledge of structural planning, drafting, detailing, and building materials.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency with 3D design software and document management systems.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office products and communication tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
  • Basic understanding of engineering or architectural concepts.
