Job summary

R. J. Corman Railroad Group, LLC seeks a Backhoe Operator/Laborer to support railroad maintenance on our short line across Middlesboro, KY and Clinton, TN.

You will operate heavy equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and assist with general labor tasks while coordinating with a supervisor. This role requires physical stamina, adherence to DOT and safety rules, PPE use, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated operation experience and equipment knowledge.
• Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot simple mechanical failures.
• Previous experience in railroad construction or maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative maintenance on heavy or specialized equipment.
• Maintains proper equipment appearance and cleanliness.
• May perform labor duties as needed.
• Communicates with supervisor throughout the job process.
• Ensures working conditions are safe, and proper PPE is being used as job duties require.
• Follow DOT regulations; ensure proper permits and driving regulations are followed.
