The role requires handling switches, inspecting track conditions, and communicating with crews. No prior knowledge is required, but a strong work ethic and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of rail experience desired.
• Switching or conductor experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Must pass pre-employment background check, physical and drug screening.
• Open availability (including weekends and holidays).

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate track switches for railcar movement.
• Inspect track conditions and switch points for safe operation.
• Couple and uncouple air hoses between railcars.
• Replace damaged railcar connectors (approximately 75 lbs).
• Communicate with train crews and yard personnel for coordinated movements.
• Follow safety procedures and use PPE properly.
• Maintain awareness of surroundings in a high-traffic rail environment.
