Job summary

Road & Rail Services is seeking dependable, safety-conscious individuals to join our Mulberry, Florida team as Railroad Switchman / Conductor. This hands-on role supports the safe movement and placement of railcars in an industrial operation.

You will work with a rail crew, switch tracks, communicate with locomotive operators, and perform inspections while wearing PPE. Prior railroad experience is helpful but not required; training is provided.

• Qualified applicants should have: Valid driver's license
• Dependable transportation to Mulberry facility
• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors
• Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
• Ability to follow detailed safety instructions and operating procedures
• Willingness to learn railroad switching and conductor responsibilities
• Ability to work effectively as part of a crew
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the shift

Responsibilities

• Assist with switching, spotting, and positioning railcars throughout the facility
• Operate manual track switches as required during switching movements
• Communicate with locomotive operators and crew members using radios and approved hand signals
• Couple and uncouple railcars during switching operations
• Inspect tracks, switches, railcars, and surrounding areas for potential hazards
• Help confirm that railcars are properly positioned before completing movements
• Climb railcars and rail equipment as required to perform assigned duties
• Walk significant distances throughout the rail yard, including across ballast and uneven surfaces
• Remain alert to moving rail equipment, vehicles, coworkers, and changing conditions
• Follow all company, customer, and railroad safety procedures
• Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or other operational concerns
• Maintain required PPE and equipment throughout the workday
