Job summary

Cando Rail & Terminals is hiring a Switchman/Conductor to perform safe and efficient rail car switching in a fast-paced, customer-focused setting. You will operate as part of a crew, follow switching procedures, and maintain a clean locomotive interior while ensuring safety and compliance.

The role emphasizes teamwork, physical fitness, and the ability to pass required clearances. Training is provided as part of a strong safety culture and ongoing development.

Qualifications

• Experience as Locomotive Operator or Switchman preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to pass drug/alcohol and medical clearances.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe operation of locomotive and train movements; conduct clear briefings.
• Apply rules and switching procedures while operating as crew; teamwork to switch derails and cars.
• Provide protection of train, track and equipment.
• Perform plant and equipment inspections, including air brake tests.
• Comply with operating rules and safety regulations; promote safe work habits.
• Keep locomotive interior clean and safe.
• Complete daily inspection and testing of brakes and safety devices.
• Submit daily reports and logs as required.
• Participate in training and team initiatives; deliver excellent customer service.
