Job summary

Amtrak in Beech Grove, IN is seeking a skilled technician responsible for inspecting, testing and maintaining plumbing, hydraulic and pneumatic systems on High Speed Trainsets, in line with FRA and Amtrak Tier II standards.

The role requires a High School diploma, experience with mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatic systems, ability to read drawings, and strong safety awareness. Competitive hourly wage with eligibility for bargaining agreement increases.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in troubleshooting, repair, replacement and rebuilding of mechanical equipment and systems.
• Experience testing equipment and repairs to water and sanitation systems.
• Must complete training and attain/retain certification.
• Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of electrical tools and measurement practices.
• Ability to train others in inspections and repairs.
• Demonstrated computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs inspection, testing and maintenance on High Speed Trainset equipment.
• Troubleshoots equipment to determine corrective actions and causes of equipment failures.
• Installs, maintains and repairs hydraulic and pneumatic circuits and systems.
• Repairs tilting system, brake, water heating and sanitation systems.
• Installs, maintains and repairs heating and cooling equipment and piping.
• Maintains proper care and use of materials, test equipment, machines and hand tools.
