Job summary

Amtrak in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a skilled maintenance technician responsible for inspection, testing and maintenance of plumbing, hydraulic and pneumatic systems on High Speed Trainsets. Eligible candidates will follow FRA and Amtrak Tier II standards and gain certification during role progression.

Scope includes installing, maintaining and repairing hydraulic/pneumatic circuits, tilting systems, braking, water heating, sanitation, and HVAC piping.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in troubleshooting, repair, replacement and rebuilding of mechanical equipment and systems.
• Experience testing equipment and repairs to water and sanitation systems.
• Must complete training and attain certification applicable to assigned job.
• Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge and skill in the use of electrical tools, equipment and measurements.
• Ability to train others in inspections and repairs.
• Demonstrated computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test and maintain High Speed Trainset equipment per 49CFR and Amtrak Tier II standards.
• Troubleshoot equipment to determine causes and corrective actions.
• Install, maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic circuits and systems.
• Repair tilting system, brake, water heating and sanitation systems.
• Install, maintain and repair heating and cooling equipment and piping.
• Maintain proper care and use of materials, test equipment, machines and hand tools.
