Job summary

Harbor Rail Services in Mobile, AL is seeking a Railcar Repairman for full-time in-person work. You will inspect, repair and service railroad freight cars according to industry standards and safety rules, using hand tools, power tools, torches, and welding equipment.

Physical work includes kneeling, bending and stooping, with overtime and on-call requirements. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, fluent English, and ability to read and communicate with teams.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate English fluently.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends.
• Back safety gear and general safety rules are required.

Responsibilities

• Perform all freight car repairs, inspect, repair, rebuild and service railroad freight cars per AAR, FRA and Railroad rules.
• Conduct inspections of rolling stock (cars, flatcars, tank cars) and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Remove and replace defective components on rolling stock (trucks, shoes, coupler assemblies, air brake systems).
• Operate shop machines and tools safely (acetylene torches, hand tools, drills, grinders, welding equipment).
• Maintain safety practices and report work on billing sheets.
• Assist in opening doors, raising decks, loading/unloading material, and keeping tracks clean.
