Job summary

Harbor Rail Services seeks a skilled Railcar Repairman to inspect, repair, rebuild and service freight cars in accordance with AAR, FRA and railroad rules. This full-time on-site role demands physical work, welding, torch use, tool operation, and adherence to strict safety procedures.

You will work with hand and power tools, perform inspections for defects, and replace defective components. Occasional travel and overtime may be required to support yard operations and customer needs.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English fluently.
• CDL is a plus; forklift and truck knowledge beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections and repairs on freight cars per industry rules.
• Remove and replace defective components on rolling stock.
• Operate shop tools and welding equipment safely and effectively.
• Maintain safe work area and wear required safety gear.
• Report work performed and assist in loading/unloading as needed.
