Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Railroad Services, Inc. (GRSI) in Mesa, AZ is seeking a Car Hire Specialist to manage monthly railcar expenses across 12 entities. You will analyze train car movement, leases, and special agreements to identify cost-saving opportunities. On-the-job training is provided.

The role requires strong accounting basics, data analysis skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Relocation within 50 miles is preferred; benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Basic accounting knowledge required.
• Strong mathematical abilities and analytical skills needed.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access).
• Good oral and written communication skills required.
• Independently motivated and proactive.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze data for assigned car-hire payables roads.
• Verify reclaims for accuracy per industry rules and agreements.
• Review various car lease agreements.
• Post cash receipts and manage receivable aging and collections.
• Assist in the month-end closing process.
• Compare final payable reports to estimates and verify accuracy.
• Prepare and review RCH payments and related transactions.
• Process payable claims and related entries.
• Perform general clerical duties (filing, sorting, mailing, data entry).
• Assist with other projects and duties as assigned.
