Job summary

R.J. Corman Railroad Group in Westlake, LA seeks an entry- to mid-level railcar cleaner and maintenance worker to inspect, clean, and prepare various railcars per procedures and customer requirements.

The role involves operating wash bay and filtration equipment, monitoring systems, and ensuring cleanliness and containment within the work area. You will perform general equipment maintenance, assist with minor repairs, and communicate with customers and teammates to ensure timely, accurate work

Qualifications

• Safety-minded with basic reading and math skills.
• Ability to understand and follow written, verbal, and radio instructions.
• Ability to learn basic process technology, wash bay systems, filtration equipment, and railcar-cleaning procedures.
• Ability to work safely and cooperatively with employees at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, prepare, and clean various types of railcars in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements.
• Operate basic wash bay, flow-process, and filtration equipment safely and according to established procedures.
• Monitor filtration systems and maintain appropriate cleanliness and containment within the assigned work area.
• Confirm customer-owned equipment meets applicable cleanliness and service standards.
• Perform general equipment maintenance and assist with minor railcar repairs that meet railroad standards and specifications.
• Complete assigned repairs such as equipment replacement, hole patching, bottom door track work, spark strip work, door straightening, floor caulking, and smoothing floor protrusions, when trained and authorized.
• Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors to support accurate, timely work.
• Follow all company, customer, environmental, and safety rules, including required personal protective equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
