Job summary

R. J. Corman Railroad Group, LLC is seeking a hands-on Railcar Cleaning Technician to inspect, clean, and prepare railcars in compliance with company and customer standards.

You will operate wash bay equipment, monitor filtration, and assist with light railcar maintenance. The role requires safety awareness, basic reading and math, the ability to follow written and radio instructions, and the stamina to work in outdoor conditions.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, prepare, and clean various types of railcars in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements.
• Operate basic wash bay, flow-process, and filtration equipment safely and according to established procedures.
• Monitor filtration systems and maintain appropriate cleanliness and containment within the assigned work area.
• Confirm customer-owned equipment meets applicable cleanliness and service standards.
• Perform general equipment maintenance and assist with minor railcar repairs that meet railroad standards and specifications.
• Complete assigned repairs such as equipment replacement, hole patching, bottom door track work, spark strip work, door straightening, floor caulking, and smoothing floor protrusions, when trained and authorized.
• Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors to support accurate, timely work.
• Follow all company, customer, environmental, and safety rules, including required personal protective equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to perform physical strenuous work
• Requires constant standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and balancing in a safe manner
• Requires frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching
• Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 80lbs
• Able to push and pull with up to 150lbs of force
• Must be able to successfully pass background, drug test and physical capacity test.

Environmental Conditions:

Performs duties in primarily outside environments, in and around moving locomotives, railcars, vehicles, and equipment. Frequent exposure to weather elements.

Major or Unusual Problems:

Work is performed in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment requiring attention to safety, containment, cleanliness, and customer standards. The position must manage multiple tasks while maintaining a professional demeanor with supervisors, employees, contractors, and customers.
