Job summary

R.J. Corman Railroad Group, LLC seeks a Maintenance Supervisor to lead repair and maintenance of railroad railcars and passenger cars. You will ensure adherence to procedures and government standards while directing preventive maintenance and coordinating parts and staffing.

Responsibilities include supervising shop and field crews, auditing billing, and coordinating with Operations to meet service needs. Travel up to 80% may be required.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years experience as railcar, diesel, automotive or aircraft mechanic or technical certifications required.
• Mechanical aptitude; apply mechanical principles to defects and repairs.
• Knowledge of railcar components.
• Experience with FRA & AAR inspections.
• Knowledge of power and hydraulic tools.
• Welding and oxy/acetylene torching experience.
• Ability to read safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and regulations.
• Knowledge of federal railroad regulations.
• Must read service and parts manuals.
• Prior management experience required.
• Must have a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and coordinates activities of workers in repair and maintenance of railroad railcars and passenger cars.
• Reads management and railcar alert reports to determine repairs.
• Assigns duties based on abilities and required repairs.
• Observes progress to ensure procedures and standards are followed.
• Directs preventive maintenance of railcar components.
• Monitors stock of replacement parts and requisitions as needed.
• Examines shop equipment to verify safety and performance standards.
• Patrols work sites to observe methods and ensure safety compliance.
• Monitors safety, quality and production performance.
• Works with Operations to meet organizational needs.
• Routinely audits railcar billing and inspects equipment for compliance.
• Assist in troubleshooting and repairing railcars and equipment.
• Coach and train mechanical employees on safe procedures.
• Track employee time for hourly shop budgets.
• Maintain shop expense budgets and capital requests.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
