Job summary

OmniTRAX WES Switching in Green River, WY is seeking a Switchman to oversee train movements, switch operations, and locomotive maintenance within FRA rules. You will couple/uncouple cars, inspect equipment, and support yard and mainline operations.

Responsibilities include signaling, radio communication, and adhering to safety protocols while performing heavy maintenance tasks and driving company vehicles on a daily basis.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and able to meet DOT/FMCSA requirements.
• Able to operate hand and power tools safely.
• Able to read safety manuals, drawings, and procedures.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Familiar with railroad safety standards and FRA rules.

Responsibilities

• Move trains safely in yards and on roads.
• Operate track switches and inspect equipment.
• Inspect and perform maintenance on locomotive and air/electrical systems.
• Assist crews to couple/uncouple cars and perform minor repairs.
• Communicate with locomotive engineer and yard personnel.
• Follow rail safety rules and FRA guidelines.
• Travel daily as required.
