Job summary

OmniTRAX WES Switching in Green River, WY seeks a Switchman to oversee yard and road train movements, operate track switches, and support maintenance of locomotives and electrical systems. The role requires following FRA rules and company safety values.

The Switchman will work with engineers and crews to couple/uncouple cars, handle track equipment, and perform inspections and minor repairs, ensuring safe and efficient operations in a demanding switching environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Able to operate hand tools and power tools per safety rules.
• Read and follow safety manuals, procedures and gauges.
• Basic math for measurements and quantities.
• Able to communicate clearly with teams in noisy environments.
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Must adhere to track safety standards and FRA regulations where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Move trains safely within yards and on roads.
• Operate track switches and inspect cars; relay movements by radio/hand signals.
• Inspect and maintain locomotive mechanical systems and electrical components.
• Assist crews to couple/uncouple cars and perform minor repairs.
• Follow safety signals and communicate with engineers and yard personnel.
• Complete inspections and reports per FRA and company guidelines.
• Perform other duties and maintenance tasks as assigned.
