Job summary

Martin Marietta Materials in Houston seeks a Rail Operations Manager to coordinate and oversee operations at the rail yards assigned. You will lead and supervise approximately 25 employees across multiple sites, ensuring safe, efficient rail unloading, transfers and deliveries.

This role emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in productivity and cost management. You will work with logistics, transportation and accounting to optimize performance and customer service

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred; 2-5 years in rail distribution operations.
Background in Rail & Truck JDE experience preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft products.
Willingness to travel day and overnight.
Ability to perform essential functions physically; flexible hours incl. weekends/holidays.
Bilingual Spanish.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise approximately 25 employees across multiple rail yards.
Ensure safety culture and regulatory compliance.
Oversee rail unloads, transfers, and deliveries to maximize service and minimize cost.
Monitor maintenance of equipment and perform inspections.
Manage transportation management system data and reporting.
Coordinate with accounting on billing and cost reconciliation.
