Job summary

Railserve is hiring a Crew Leader to oversee daily rail switching activities in an industrial rail environment. This hands-on leadership role combines locomotive operation with crew coordination, coaching, and daily oversight to meet customer operations and production schedules.

The ideal candidate will be safety-focused, dependable, and experienced in rail operations with strong communication and teamwork skills; leadership opportunities exist within Railserve’s growth path.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong attendance and dependability required.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to walk on uneven terrain and climb on rail equipment.
• Ability to lift, carry, and handle heavy equipment and materials.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities safely and effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
• Ability to follow safety rules, operating procedures, and instructions.
• Military experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily rail switching activities to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
• Plan, assign, and coordinate work activities for rail switching crew members.
• Provide daily direction, coaching, and performance feedback to employees.
• Train new employees on operating procedures, safety requirements, and company policies.
• Operate locomotives and rail equipment safely and efficiently.
• Coordinate the timely switching, movement, and placement of railcars.
• Interpret train orders, railroad signals, operating rules, and switching schedules.
• Communicate regularly with yard coordinators, site leadership, and customer personnel regarding progress.
