Job summary

Drummac, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Apprentice (Qualified Person) to maintain and repair passenger rail cars and locomotives under the supervision of our Passenger Rail Mechanic, in compliance with safety policies and regulations.

The role involves inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs to air brakes, HVAC, doors, panels and electrical systems, with overtime, weekend, and on-call requirements; benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and a 401(k) match.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Trade school or formal railroad locomotive/diesel maintenance training required.
• Knowledge of locomotive mechanical or locomotive electrical or industrial heavy equipment experience required.
• Pre-employment screening required.

Responsibilities

• Performs air brake inspection of passenger cars and has knowledge of air brake systems.
• Performs locomotive daily inspection; able to troubleshoot and repair/replace parts.
• Troubleshoots passenger cars including toilet systems, air conditioning, doors, panels, lights, electrical and brake systems; performs repairs.
• Fills out regulatory, client and Company-required paperwork.
• Performs electrical tests and maintains batteries and electrical equipment on locomotives.
• Communicates findings of inspections to Supervisor.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call as required.
• Flexible schedule to accommodate dynamic train schedules.
• Works outdoors in inclement conditions; uses protective equipment.
• Takes responsibility for own safety on the job.
• Performs other related duties as required.
