Job summary

Drummac, Inc. is seeking a Passenger Rail Mechanic Apprentice in San Luis Obispo, CA. The role trains under a Passenger Rail Mechanic to maintain and repair passenger rail cars and locomotives, while complying with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will perform inspections, troubleshoot systems, and complete required paperwork, with an emphasis on safety, overtime readiness, and adaptability to dynamic train schedules. Benefits accompany full-time employment.

Qualifications

• Requires HS diploma or GED and reading/writing/reasoning.
• Previous locomotive mechanical or diesel maintenance training is required.
• Pre-employment screening is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs airbrake inspections on passenger cars and related equipment.
• Performs locomotive daily inspections and troubleshoots/repairs parts.
• Troubleshoots passenger cars (toilet systems, HVAC, doors, lights, brakes) and conducts repairs as needed.
• Completes regulatory and company paperwork.
• Performs electrical tests and maintenance on locomotive batteries and equipment.
