Job summary

Tectonic Engineering in Forest Hills, NY is seeking full-time Project Engineers / Assistant Resident Engineers to support rail transit design-build and construction projects across NYC Transit, MTA and NJ Transit networks.

You will act as Client’s representative in the field, supervise on-site activities, review submittals, manage safety and quality programs, and coordinate with contractors, vendors, and utilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture.
• 4+ years of progressive experience on rail transit projects.
• PE license preferred; RA license or CCM certification preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specs and construction documents.
• Strong communication with clients, supervisors and inspectors.
• Willingness to work nights and weekends; valid driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with providing professional engineering and construction oversight on rail transit design-build and construction projects.
• Act as Client’s representative in the field with contractors, vendors, utilities and other external parties.
• Assist RE/PM in supervising field activities and providing technical guidance.
• Review plans, submittals, and approvals; help with contractor inquiries and change orders.
• Lead on-site engineers and inspectors to observe work and maintain project records.
• Assist with safety and quality protocols and audits per project requirements.
• Monitor project progress against contract cost and schedule; assist in progress meetings.
• Maintain and submit project documentation and close-out processes.
