Tectonic Engineering seeks Construction Site Inspectors and Engineers with rail transit experience for NYC Transit, NJ Transit, Amtrak, and related projects. On-site roles require travel to rail sites, strong inspection and reporting skills, and the ability to read and interpret complex construction documents.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of rail transit inspection or equivalent experience; public agencies a plus.
• BS degree preferred in Civil/Structural/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
• Ability to read and interpret written specifications, plans and build documents.
• Effective communication with clients, supervisors and contractors about requirements and test results.
• Detail-oriented with ability to prepare and submit accurate reports on time.
• Valid driver’s license and own vehicle preferred; willingness to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction inspection on rail transit projects including stations, systems, tracks, and structures.
• Monitor contractor activities and use field testing equipment to conduct inspections.
• Prepare daily field inspection reports and communicate deficiencies to PMs, engineers, contractors, and clients.
• Interpret drawings, specifications and build documents for work orders.
• Enforce safety and quality management protocols on projects.
• Fulfill related duties to ensure successful project completion.
