Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Rail and Transit Engineering Intern for our New York, NY office. You will assist in planning, design, and production of engineering drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and OpenRoads for R&T and other infrastructure projects.

You will acquire data, perform simple analyses, participate in field observations, and help with project documentation and cross‑functional workflows across the R&T group. This is an entry-level internship with mentorship and hands-on exposure.

Qualifications

  • Must have completed 60 hours towards a related degree by the start of the internship.
  • Basic computer skills to enter data into spreadsheets or databases; math skills to perform simple calculations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Rail and Transit Engineering Intern to join our New York, NY office.


Your Role


  • Assist in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings using tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and OpenRoads for R\&T and other Infrastructure projects as needed.

  • Perform data acquisition and analysis, including collection of field data, routine engineering calculations.

  • Participate in field observations and construction-related activities, including documentation of progress, and quality-control data collection where appropriate.

  • Support general project management and operational workflows across the R\&T business by coordinating cross‑functional activities, tracking deliverables, compiling project documentation, and assisting with day‑to‑day business operations.


About You


  • EXPERIENCE: No experience is generally required if accepted into an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in a related technical field.

  • EDUCATION: Must have completed 60 hours towards a related degree from an accredited college/university by the start of the internship (Summer 2027).

  • SPECIAL SKILLS: Basic computer skills required to enter data into spreadsheets or databases. Math skills to perform simple calculations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Additional Information

Expected compensation range is between $25 - $31 hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
