AtkinsRéalis in New York, NY is seeking a Rail and Transit Engineering Intern to join our New York office. You will assist in planning, design, and production of engineering drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and OpenRoads for R&T and other infrastructure projects.

This entry‑level internship requires pursuing a related degree with at least 60 hours completed by Summer 2027. Candidates should have basic data-entry skills, math ability, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

• Must be enrolled in an Associate or Bachelor degree program in a related technical field.
• Must have completed 60 hours toward degree by Summer 2027.
• Basic computer skills to enter data; proficient in Microsoft Office.

Overview

Your Role

• Assist in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings using tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and OpenRoads for R&T and other Infrastructure projects as needed.
• Perform data acquisition and analysis, including collection of field data, routine engineering calculations
• Participate in field observations and construction-related activities, including documentation of progress, and quality-control data collection where appropriate.
• Support general project management and operational workflows across the R&T business by coordinating cross-functional activities, tracking deliverables, compiling project documentation, and assisting with day‑to‑day business operations.

About You

• EXPERIENCE: No experience is generally required if accepted into an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program in a related technical field.
• EDUCATION: Must have completed 60 hours towards a related degree from an accredited college/university by the start of the internship (Summer 2027).
• SPECIAL SKILLS: Basic computer skills required to enter data into spreadsheets or databases. Math skills to perform simple calculations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Additional Information

Expected compensation range is between $25 - $31 hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
