Job summary

AtkinsRéalis, in Atlanta, GA, seeks a Transportation Planning Intern with interest in NEPA to support our transportation team. The role focuses on preparing assessments, creating graphics and data tables, assisting with site assessments and data processing under supervision.

You will use Excel, Word, PowerPoint and ArcPro GIS, assist public engagement, and develop communication materials while gaining hands-on experience across environmental planning projects in a collaborative, mentoring

Qualifications

• Must have completed 60 hours towards a bachelor’s degree in planning or related degree by Summer 2027.
• Experience in research, data analysis, and technical report production is preferred.
• Ability to work in outdoor project sites and possess a valid driver's license.

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Transportation Planning Intern, interested in National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), to join our Atlanta, Georgia office.

Your role

• Assist with the preparation of, or prepares screening assessments with supervision
• Create graphics, maps, spreadsheets, databases, or tables to assist with technical report preparation
• Participate in project site assessment activities, pre and post field work activities, site assessment, and data processing
• Have a basic understanding of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, ArcPro GIS, etc., with the ability to organize files, and use standard business writing to contribute to technical report production.
• Assist with public engagement activities, including but not limited to the ability to use social media to research or promote activities, speak to a group or communicate with individuals of the public, special interest groups, etc., and create informative materials.

About you

• EXPERIENCE: Have completed scientific, engineering, or other coursework that required research, data analysis, technical report production and presentation of findings for peer consideration.
• EDUCATION: Must have completed 60 hours towards a bachelor’s degree in planning, or a related degree from an accredited college/university by the start of the internship (Summer 2027).
• SPECIAL SKILLS:
  • Applicant should be able to work in outdoor project sites and drive.
  • Basic understanding of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, ArcPro GIS, etc.
  • Experience reading a map and/or construction plans.
  • Experience analyzing census data and/or identifying ecological resources is desired but not required.

Expected compensation range is between $23 - $29 hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
