Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Civil Engineer / Project Engineer to lead conceptual, permitting, and final design for major rail and transit projects in New York City. You will focus on transportation, highway, roadway, and stormwater infrastructure, delivering high-quality design services in compliance with codes and standards.

The role involves preparing technical specifications, construction cost estimates, and engineering studies across project development stages.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience designing infrastructure, roadway, highway, and transit projects.
• Experience in rail and transit design for urban environments.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, MicroStation, and OpenRoads for civil design and modeling.
• Experience working on projects for DOT, DDC, and DEP or similar public agencies.
• Ability to independently handle technical civil design tasks for transportation, highway/roadway, and stormwater systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for reports and coordinating with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual, permitting, and final design for rail and transit projects in New York City.
• Provide civil engineering design services that conform to codes, standards, and agency requirements.
• Develop engineering studies and technical reports for multiple project phases.
• Prepare detailed specifications and construction cost estimates for transportation and stormwater projects.
• Develop site civil elements including grading, drainage, and site plans for infrastructure projects.
• Support project management and client coordination.
