Job summary

Regional Transportation District (RTD) in Denver seeks an Instructional Designer to design, develop, and deliver immersive rail training using simulators, VR, AV recording, and blended delivery methods.

You will collaborate with SMEs to define objectives, create curricula, and implement assessments to measure learner competency and readiness. A strong focus on safety, regulatory alignment, and operational applicability is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a closely related field.
• 2+ years of training, instructional design, curriculum development, or simulation-based learning.
• Experience designing or delivering technical training for rail operations or similar environments.
• Ability to develop scripts, scenarios, assessments, and rubrics.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement immersive learning experiences using simulators, VR, and AV recording systems.
• Collaborate with SMEs to identify objectives, performance expectations, and required knowledge.
• Conduct needs assessments and gap analyses for existing training programs.
• Develop full simulation courses and curricula including scenarios, materials, activities, and assessments.
• Create, test, and refine multimedia content and scripts for knowledge transfer.
• Facilitate pre-briefings and structured debriefings to enhance learning and performance.
• Develop assessment tools (rubrics, checklists, pre/post-tests) to measure competency.
• Maintain documentation and support instructors with content and delivery.
