Job summary

Regional Transportation District (RTD) is seeking an Instructional Designer for Rail Training (O&M). The role designs and implements training programs for light rail and commuter rail operations, coordinating with operations, maintenance, safety, and regulatory partners to ensure readiness and compliance.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s in a relevant field and at least 3 years in instructional design, with strong skills in creating multimedia content and using LMS platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Organizational Development, Education, Instructional Design, or Workforce Development required
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in training, curriculum development, or instructional design in rail or transit environments
• Experience designing, developing, and implementing training programs including classroom, eLearning, blended, and simulation-based formats
• Valid Colorado driver's license with limited violations in past years as specified

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement engaging learning activities and comprehensive course content for rail operations and maintenance training programs
• Identify objectives, performance expectations, and knowledge required for safe operation of rail vehicles
• Conduct needs assessments and gap analyses to improve existing courses
• Manage full courses and curriculum, including materials, assessments, and resources
• Create multimedia content (video, audio, simulations) and scripts for instructional materials
• Collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to ensure current, compliant training
